The Christmas Oratorio Finale by Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev

January 5, 2019 / Met. Hilarion Alfeyev

Angel

Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev), Bishop of Volokolamsk and chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church, is a prolific writer and also a composer. One might ask where he finds that time to compose music given his busy schedule. Met. Hilarion responds that much of his writing occurs during layovers in airports because of his frequent international travels.

Below is the finale of Met. Hilarion’s Christmas Oratorio. It as composed 2007. The choir is singing “Glory to God on High” from “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men!” The Oratorio is performed by the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alexei Puzakov.

Met. Hilarion’s music is available on Spotify and Amazon.
